A health and safety qualification is an important requirement for all businesses, but if you’re in the construction industry, you’ll probably need to decide between an SSSTS or SMSTS certification. The two courses are similar but choosing the right course will vary depending on your job position. Here’s all you need to know before deciding on which course to take:

What does SSSTS stand for and who is the SSSTS course best-suited to?

SSSTS stands for Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme and is the construction industry standard for first-line managers and supervisors. If you are currently a supervisor and are looking to move into a more managerial role, this is a good training certificate to add to your CV. Also, if you are a supervisor working on a UKCG site, or one belonging to the Major Contractors Group, you’ll need the SSSTS certificate beforehand.

The five-day course will be focused on health and safety laws and requirements.
