Plant and Machinery – CPCS cards
Plant and machinery training and CPCS testing
Many fencers have a requirement to operate some plant and machinery within their every day work. Most construction sites now require operators to hold Construction Plant Certification Scheme (CPCS) cards.
For operatives who do not hold a CPCS card, they need to undertake some training and then pass both a theory and practical test on each piece of equipment they would like to operate i.e. forward tipping dumper, mini excavator fork lift etc. This will enable candidates to apply for a red trained operative CPCS card (subject to also passing the health & safety test). Go to the forms page to download test papers.
During the next two years the candidates are required to complete an NVQ for each piece of plant they require a card for. When these on-site assessments have been completed and the qualification gained, the operative can apply for a blue competency CPCS card, which is valid for five years.
FaCT works with a network of CPCS training providers to offer the training, CPCS testing and NVQ assessment for each piece of machinery and can also process these cards applications.
