Level 3 Diploma – Fencing
Level 3 Diploma in Fencing Supervision
The Level 3 Diploma in Fencing is the main requirement for fencing supervisors and contracts managers to enable them to hold the Gold FISS/CSCS card. FaCT delivers both the General Fence and the VRS Fencing qualifications.
This is the qualification for all Fence Supervisors and Contracts managers
The diploma will give the candidate the opportunity to develop their skills in a work environment. They will demonstrate their competence across the full range of activities that a fence supervisor requires as part of their everyday work.
For experienced fencers, this can be a relatively quick process of just 2 or 3 site visits to confirm their skills and abilities. For those learning the industry, this will take longer and enable them to learn and develop as they progress.

How is the Level 3 Diploma in fencing achieved?
To achieve the diploma you build a portfolio of evidence that proves that you are competent at the job in line with the National Occupational Standards.
The evidence is built by you undergoing work-based observations which are carried out by our team of assessors. During the observations, the assessor will judge whether you are competent and capable and will record this with written observations and photographic evidence.
The assessor will also ask questions to assert your understanding and knowledge. This assures that you understand the theory as well as the practical.
Your assessor will work with you to collect the necessary evidence to ensure you have met both the performance criteria (what you must do) and the knowledge and understanding criteria (what you must know).
The Diploma alone does not make you a supervisor but confirms you are able to undertake the task safely and to a good standard. However, during the process, if training needs are identified they can be delivered via the FaCT training department in agreement with FaCT and your employer.
The Level 3 Diploma in Fencing (NVQ)is a nationally recognised qualification for fence installers in the UK. It is based on the National Occupational Standards which reflect the working practices of fence installers. The standards were developed by a group representing employers, fencing manufacturers and contractors, training organisations and other organisations with an interest in fencing, such as the Highways Agency and Network Rail and major construction companies.
