These the qualifications for all VRS Fence Installers
These diplomas will give candidates the opportunity to develop their skills in a work environment. They will demonstrate their competence across the full range of activities which a VRS fence installer requires as part of their everyday work.
For experienced fencers, this can be a relatively quick process of just 3 or 4 site visits to confirm their skills and abilities. For those learning the industry, this will take longer and enable them to learn and develop as they progress.
Withing the VRS Fencing qualification we now have three distinctive routes to meet the needs of the whole industry:

Three optional (O) units.

Learners completing the permanent pathway must generate evidence from installation of
permanent vehicle restraint systems.
Parapets
This route comprises of:
Eight mandatory (M) units
Six optional (O) units.
Learners must achieve the mandatory units.
Learners completing the parapets pathway must generate evidence from installation of

What does the Level 2 Diploma in Fencing cover?
How is the Level 2 VRS Diploma in fencing achieved?
To achieve the diploma you build a portfolio of evidence that proves that you are competent at the job in line with the National Occupational Standards.
The evidence is built by you undergoing work-based observations which are carried out by our team of assessors. During the observations, the assessor will judge whether you are competent and capable and will record this with written observations and photographic evidence.
The assessor will also ask questions to assert your understanding and knowledge. This assures that you understand the theory as well as the practical.
Your assessor will work with you to collect the necessary evidence to ensure you have met both the performance criteria (what you must do) and the knowledge and understanding criteria (what you must know).
The Diploma alone does not make you a fencer but confirms you are able to undertake the task safely and to a good standard. However, during the process, if training needs are identified they can be delivered via the FaCT training department in agreement with FaCT and your employer.
The Level 2 Diploma in Fencing (NVQ)is a nationally recognised qualification for fence installers in the UK. It is based on the National Occupational Standards which reflect the working practices of fence installers. The standards were developed by a group representing employers, fencing manufacturers and contractors, training organisations and other organisations with an interest in fencing, such as the Highways Agency and Network Rail and major construction companies.
