Investing In Growth: The Impact Of Level 2 Fencing Diplomas On Your Workforce

The Level 2 Diploma (NVQ) In Work-Based Fencing or General Fencing is the industry standard qualification for fencing professionals working on fencing installations. Completing the diploma qualifies fence installers to apply for the Blue FISS/CSCS Card, a requirement on most building sites and for many contracts. As well as giving them the practical skills to accomplish a range of fence installation tasks on site. With a blend of professionalism and tradesman banter with tricks of the trade, our assessors make this an enjoyable and beneficial experience for any fencer.
The course is designed for both new and experienced fence installers, and covers nine practical modules:
- Locating and identifying services/underground utilities
- Health and safety
- Establishing lines and levels on site
- Handling and storing fencing materials
- Operating power tools and attachments
- Rectifying defective fencing
- Excavating foundations
- Placing and fixing fence and gate posts
- Placing and fixing fence components.
The impact of investing in level 2 fencing diplomas for your fencing workforce can be significant, with a noticeable uplift in project completion times and on-site efficiency, and a reduction in workplace accidents, machine faults, and damage to property and equipment.
Benefits Include
- Reduced risk of injury to workers arising from accidents
- Higher quality work, with fewer reworks
- Improved customer satisfaction rates, leading to more positive reviews and repeat business
- Improved health and safety on site, including when using power tools and working at height
- More efficient fencing techniques and best practices, leading to faster project completion, reduced labour costs, and shorter project timelines
- Reduced costs from mistakes and human errors, including less damage to equipment, fence posts, and property
In a competitive market, having a workforce equipped with formal qualifications can also set a fencing company apart from local competitors, and is a selling point when bidding for contracts and attracting new customers.
Fence Training – Routes To Qualification
The pathway required to obtain the level 2 diploma depends on the knowledge and experience level of each individual installer. As qualifying is evidence-based, some experienced fencers require only 3 or 4 site visits for our assessors to collect the evidence needed to prove competence in each of the nine modules. Less experienced workers, and people who are new to fence installations, may require a course of classroom-based online learning to lay the theoretical knowledge base for the practical elements of the course, as well as more on site assessments.
At FaCT, we work with contractors and self-employed fencers to provide a personalised route to learning that suits your required outcomes and skill levels, helping you achieve your qualifications in the shortest possible time.
For more experienced fence installers, we also offer the Level 3 Diploma in Fencing.
