Who’s the SSSTS training programme for? And how long is it?

The SSSTS training is a two-day programme. It is designed for first-line managers, foremen, gangers, team leaders and supervisors. The course is also especially relevant to those who have, or are about to achieve, supervisory duties and responsibilities.

What are the benefits of being SSSTS certified?

The SSSTS course is recognised as the standard requirement for all supervisors by many companies. Alongside this there are also many benefits of studying the course. Including the receipt of an industry recognised certificate. The candidate will also develop new and existing skills . Furthermore, the course is a requirement when applying for a Gold FISS CSCS card.

Why train with FaCT?

We are an organisation that has a lot of experience in delivering training. Consequently, our courses are delivered by professional and expert instructors. Furthermore, we can deliver our courses at a venue to suit you. We have many years of experience operating at our Birmingham and other venues all across the UK. As a result, you can be sure of receiving the best courses possible.

Where can I complete the SSSTS course?

We pride ourselves on our mobility and flexibility which means we can deliver the course in all areas of the UK at a venue to suit you. We deliver this course at our Birmingham centre as well as via our Live Online Learning platform, to give you flexibility and reduce time and cost in travel.

The Birmingham (Northfield) centre also facilitate the delivery ‘all in one packages’. These packages include the study of the programme, and the touchscreen test (if applying for or renewing a FISS CSCS or CSCS card). The Birmingham (Northfield) centre is approved by CITB to deliver the touchscreen test. This allows for the test to be taken there and then. Get in touch to book or ask any questions!

How long is the certification valid for?

After completing the programme you are certified for five years. Therefore, a course refresher is a requirement before the expiry date in order to remain certified. We also provide the refresher course all across the UK at a venue to suit you. The ‘all in one’ package which includes the test can be completed at our Birmingham and Manchester venues.

What is the SSSTS training refresher?

The refresher SSSTS course is for people who have previously passed the full course. Due to the completion of the full course the refresher programme is shorter, lasting just one day. It will include an update of health and safety knowledge. The course also includes, an overview of any legal changes,  and an introduction of new topics. Finally, the course also includes a brief review of the topics previously studied. Our Birmingham centre’s can both host the touchscreen test. The test, in addition to the training programme, is part of FISS CSCS card applications or renewals.

How can I progress from the SSSTS course?

Upon completion of the SSSTS training, the most common route is often to study on the SMSTS programme. Alongside the SSSTS course we also provide the SMSTSprogramme all across the UK. In addition to the delivery of the training, our Birmingham and Manchester venues provide the facilities for the touchscreen test.

What does the SSSTS course involve?

The scheme covers areas such as health and safety laws, risk assessments and the effective monitoring of site work. The course builds on the existing knowledge of the candidate and aims to develop new and existing skills. We often get questions as to whats included in the programme. Therefore, below is a summary of the content. To read additional content about the programme and other Site Safety Plus courses follow this link to the CITB website.
