FaCT are now an approved Health and Safety computer based test centre – with three test stations at our head office and six at our Manchester training centre. Book your test with us or add it to the health and safety training day, enabling you to do all your training, testing and card application in one day.
Passing the Health, Safety & Environment Test for operatives is part of the criteria for applying for any FISS/CSCS card and the test must be passed within a two year period of the card application being submitted.
Preparing for the test
- Revision material (either in book or DVD format) can be purchased directly from FaCT; on-line from CITB or from most high street bookshops

Booking the test
- If you want to take your test at FaCTs test centre in Birmingham or Manchester call 0121 476 4731 and will be do all for you

Information for test booking
- Type of test required – Green, Red and Blue FISS/CSCS cards require the Operatives HS&E test, Gold requires the Supervisors test and Black the Managers test
- You can book special assistance i.e: voiceover – available in several languages, British Sign Language. Any other special assistance (dedicated reader, signer, interpreter) can be provided but only at fixed test centres and booked through the dedicated booking line of 0344 994 4491
- Method of payment – credit or debit card
- Address details; NI number and DOB of each person taking the test
- You can cancel or reschedule a test on-line Click here or by calling 0344 994 4488 at least 72 hours (three working days in advance) before your test, otherwise you will lose your test fee
Taking the test
Tests are 45 minutes long and have 50 multiple-choice questions including:
- 12 behavioural case study questions on construction site safety
- 38 knowledge questions on health, safety and environmental issues including: legal and management; health and welfare; general safety; high risk activities and environment
- It is a computer based test – answers are selected by touching the screen or using the mouse
- There is a tutorial available before the test which explains how everything works
- Candidates need to arrive 15 mins prior to the test
- Candidates must take the confirmation letter (emailed at time of test booking) and ID that includes a photograph and signature e.g: passport / driving licence
- Candidates will receive a copy of their result after the test which is needed for the FISS/CSCS application
