ROLO Health & Safety Awareness
What is ROLO?
ROLO (Register of Land-based Operations) is recognised by Build UK as one of the leading Health, Safety and Environmental Awareness Courses in the UK, designed exclusively for the Land-based industries by landscaping professionals.
ROLO was developed and is owned by the British Association of Landscape Industries to raise the standard of health and safety, and environmental awareness, and reduce the risk of accidents in the workplace. It also encourages employers to keep a record of workers in the Land-based sector who have achieved a recognised level of competence.
Who are these Courses For?
These courses are for people working in the Landscaping industry.
This training is a requirement for anyone who needs to gain or renew a LISS/CSCS Smart card
ROLO Course Levels
Operative course (Green and Blue LISS/CSCS Card) – 1 day (face to face or online)
The Operatives course is the health and safety course required to gain the Green Labourer LISS/CSCS and Blue Skilled Worker LISS/CSCS cards – Along side the CITB HS&E Operatives touch screen test and the relevant qualification for Blue card applicants.
The ROLO Operative courses are an introductory health and safety qualification and a precursor to obtaining a LISS/CSCS card. The training covers the basics of Health & Safety law, regulations, risk assessment, hazard awareness, protective equipment, electrical awareness, excavations, work at height, PUWER, LOLER and more.
Supervisor course (Gold LISS/CSCS Card) – 2 days (online)
The Supervisors course is the health and safety course required to gain the Gold Supervisors LISS/CSCS card, it is a prerequisite of the course that the e-learning is completed before the course starts- Along side the CITB HS&E Supervisors touch screen test and the relevant qualification.

Manager course (Black LISS/CSCS Card) – 3 days (plus e-learning element)
The Managers course is the health and safety course required to gain the Black Managers LISS/CSCS Card, it is a prerequisite of the course that the e-learning is completed before the course starts- Along side the CITB HS&E MAP touch screen test and relevant qualification.

Where
This course is delivered Online via our live online learning platform or at our training centre in the Midlands and other locations across the UK, with our partners.
Certification
Candidates who successfully complete the course and pass the assessment will gain a ROLO Health & Safety Awareness Certificate, which is valid for 5-years, but must be less than 2 years old when applying for a card.

Why is ROLO important?
The Department of Trade & Industry made it a ‘duty of care’ that all trade bodies ensure that their members are adequately trained in health and safety and that all employers should demonstrate their personnel are correctly trained. In July 2014 the United Kingdom Contractors Group (UKCG) officially recognised BALI’s ROLO Health, Safety and Environmental Awareness Course under its UKCG Health and Safety Training Standard, now known as Build UK.
