Course Aim

To provide delegates with the essential knowledge and skills required for safe and efficient operation of MEWPs.


Who Should Attend

Those who use, supervise or manage the use of powered access scissor lifts, self-propelled boom lifts, trailer mounted boom lifts and aerial work platforms. Those who need to use only one piece of MEWP should take the Single category course and those who need to use two pieces of MEWP should take the Dual category course.

  • Introduction and pre-course theory test
  • MEWP categories
  • Structural parts
  • Regulations – ISO 18878, European, HASAWA, PUWER, LOLER, MHSW, WAHR, RIDDOR.
  • Pre-use inspection/handovers
  • Safe operating methods and hazards
  • Theory test
  • Practical training
  • Practical assessment

Course Duration / Candidate Numbers

1 day / maximum of 6 candidates for one category or 4 for both categories of MEWP


Certification

Delegates successfully completing the course will receive an IPAF Certificate and PAL (Powered Access Licence) Card valid for 5 years
